Former McKinney Mayor Discusses His Experience Speaking About the Mosque
George Fuller expected some things to happen when he spoke before the City Council in McKinney about a mosque expansion. Other things came as a surprise.
During Tuesday night’s public discussion of a mosque expansion at the McKinney City Council, former Mayor George Fuller spoke and said why the council had to follow the letter of the law and approve the latest steps. Some people cheered, many people booed.
In an exclusive interview with Context Corner’s Managing Editor Sam Moore, Fuller explained why he was disappointed with some of McKinney’s residents. He also called out Congressman Keith Self and State Representative Keresa Richardson for their attempts to convince the Council not to follow the law. And he talked about his reaction when he was faced with a lady who obviously did not like what he had to say.
I really appreciate the words of Mayor Fuller and his stance that night. I'm especially heartened by two things he said; first, that these people were the minority (I firmly believe that) and second that his response to that 'attack' was one of pity and prayer - that's real leadership.
