Mark Hill Sworn In as Frisco Mayor, Succeeding Longtime Leader Jeff Cheney
A standing-room-only crowd celebrated outgoing Mayor Jeff Cheney's nearly 20 years of leadership as newly elected Mayor Mark Hill was sworn in and outlined his vision for Frisco's future.
A packed crowd filled the Frisco City Council chambers as city leaders, residents and supporters gathered to honor outgoing Mayor Jeff Cheney and welcome newly elected Mayor Mark Hill during Frisco’s official leadership transition.
The standing-room-only ceremony celebrated Cheney’s nearly two decades of public service while marking the beginning of Hill’s administration.
Jeff Cheney Reflects on Nearly Two Decades of Service
After serving as Frisco’s mayor for nearly 20 years, Jeff Cheney reflected on his time leading one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities.
“If I know now what I do then, would I do it all over again? The answer is unequivocally yes. It was a highlight of my professional career. It challenged me, made me grow as a leader and completely changed the life of our family.”
Cheney said helping shape Frisco’s growth has been one of the most rewarding experiences of his life.
Community Welcomes Mark Hill
Following the ceremony, Mark Hill was officially sworn in as Frisco’s new mayor before addressing residents, supporters and city leaders.
Hill thanked the community and reaffirmed a campaign message centered on families, economic opportunity and continued growth.
“Strong families are what make a strong Frisco. Part of our job is making sure the next strong family and the next strong business choose Frisco, Texas.”
He said that vision will guide his leadership moving forward.
Community Leaders Look Ahead
Supporters said the large turnout reflected both appreciation for Cheney’s leadership and excitement about Frisco’s future under Hill.
Tracie Shipman (Former City Council Member) who supported Hill’s campaign, said the city’s next chapter is about building on the foundation established by previous leaders.
“People were here to honor Jeff Cheney’s incredible legacy, but they’re also excited about where Mark Hill can take Frisco next.”
Many attendees described the transition as the beginning of a new era for one of North Texas’ fastest-growing communities.
Looking Toward Frisco’s Future
As Frisco continues to expand with new businesses, residents and development, Hill now assumes leadership at a pivotal time for the city.
What that next chapter ultimately looks like remains to be seen, but supporters say they believe the city’s momentum will continue under its new mayor.
The Bottom Line
With Jeff Cheney’s nearly 20-year tenure coming to an end, Frisco officially begins a new chapter under Mayor Mark Hill. Community leaders say the city’s strong foundation now shifts toward the next phase of growth, development and opportunity.
