McKinney Mosque Vote: Packed City Hall, Heated Debate & Unanimous 7-0 Decision

Hundreds of residents filled McKinney City Hall as supporters and opponents debated the proposed Virginia Parkway mosque before the City Council unanimously voted 7-0 to move the project forward.

A packed McKinney City Hall saw hours of public comment, heated exchanges and competing views over a proposed mosque site plan on Virginia Parkway. Supporters and opponents raised questions about development, zoning, community concerns and religious freedom.

After hours of testimony, the City Council pulled the item from the consent agenda for additional discussion and presentations from city staff. Shortly before midnight, council members voted unanimously, 7-0, to move the property development forward.
